Did you know that the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends at least 11 preventive visits before your child is 3 years old? The AAP also supports annual “well child” visits for children 3 years and up–including adolescents! Why? Because preventive visits are just that: unlike an illness- or problem-based sick visit, these “well child” visits emphasize vision, hearing, developmental, and psychosocial screening tools that are intended to detect any potential health issues and, in turn, to prevent these issues from becoming health problems in the future. In fact, here’s a short list of age-specific “well child” services offered by Joy & Crown:

Ages 0-2 years:

  • Developmental Screening and Assessment
  • Autism Screening

Ages 3-10 years:

  • Developmental Screening and Assessment
  • ADHD Screening and Treatment

Ages 11-18 years:

  • ADHD Screening and Treatment
  • Screening for Depression and/or Anxiety
  • Adolescence-Based Health Screens, including
  • Gynecologic Screens

Ages 19-21 years:

  • Transitioning-to-Adult-Care Screens, including
  • ADHD Screening and Treatment
  • Screening for Depression and/or Anxiety
  • Gynecologic Screens

Help us keep your family healthy by scheduling your children’s preventive visits at the recommended ages and/or frequency!

Oh . . . and in case you’re concerned about your children being exposed to germs at their preventive visits–and hence, your “well child” becoming a “sick child” a few days later–, just keep in mind that our facility has separate well and sick entrances and waiting areas, HEPA filtration and air purification throughout, . . . and we make sure to disinfect the toys every day and exam rooms thoroughly after every encounter!
